Hi everyone,
I've gone through the mid year paper and these are my answers. MPM's answers may be slightly different as even I admit that most of the questions are tricky. Anyway, this is just to help you guage your level. When you get your result (x) do some calculation to predict what you may get for the final result. x times 120 divided by 45 then you can get your reading paper marks of x/120.
Eg. if u scored 20 x120 /45 = 53 points /120.
Then you have to pray you did well for the other papers..

So, how did you do? A good target to aim for is at least 25/45 in order to get band 3 or higher.
Stay tuned for sample answers for the report and academic essay in my next blog post.

ReplyDelete30/45 still can get band 5?zzz
ReplyDeletedepends on how well you do in the other papers, but sorry to say band 6 is out of your reach if you don't score in the reading paper. good attempt anyway.
ReplyDeletei got only 29/45...T.T
ReplyDeletethanks...

ReplyDeletei gt all wrong from 39-44.... T_T
ReplyDelete6 Question...16 marks ar...
hmm...actually...how to score in comprehension? i gt lots frenz who gt 100++ for it...
hye ms.audrey,i got 34/45..and when check writing i think quite similar to the answer but i made 5 paragraph. the conclusion exactly same as yours. what do u think?
ReplyDeletewhat about listening paper and speaking?
ReplyDeletei think we are curious about the answer?
hope u can help us. TQ
for listening i don't hv the sample questions and answer paper so i can't help you there. as for speaking, i don't hv any access to the questions either. if you can remember verbatim what the questions were, i can definitely outline a band 6 answer. otherwise, you just have to believe that you tried your best. ;-)
ReplyDeleteto improve in reading comprehension, you need to READ, READ AND READ, and MAKE NOTES/REFER TO DICTIONARY. there is no shortcut.. only hard work pays off grand dividends. sorry to break this to you!
Dear Audrey,
ReplyDeleteI am in a dilemma now as many teachers here in Butterworth,Penang are unaware that the students can actually write more than 200 words for their writing paper, task 1. Some of them are not even reading my students' answer if they write more than 200 words. What should I do to prove to the students that they can write more than 200 words.I have asked them to read your blog.SOS!!!!
hi mr. sara,
ReplyDeletegood to know that i am indeed reaching out to the masses. i'm sorry but there is no black and white regarding the word limit. i can vouch that i received verbal confirmation that students will not be penalised for exceeding the 200 word limit and that they will still be awarded marks for points after the said limit. the only danger is that they will make more grammatical errors which will cause them to lose valuable marks, and the inclusion of unrelated or unnecessary features (as opposed to KEY features) will also end in marks deducted. please advise the teachers there to read the whole report meanwhile emphasising to students that a concise and to the point report within the word limit is by far superior to a long winded one. good luck! email me at queendrey@gmail.com for any other inquiries. ;-)
Dear Audrey,
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for all your help and guidance. I shall share this information with some teachers and my students.
Thank you again audrey. I shall e-mail you too for more details. Thanks for the e-mail address.
